The victims were on their way to Bafoussam for the withdrawal of their salaries on the morning of December 1, 2021.

A vehicle collided this morning, December 1, 2021 with a semi-trailer truck on the Magba – Manki axis located between the Western region and that of Adamawa, reported the sub-prefect of Magba, Jean Jacques Nsang Ekonde to Anadolu Agency. The vehicle was carrying eight people, including seven civil servants. " he said, adding that all occupants of the vehicle were killed in the accident.

"These are civil servants who left early this morning from the locality of Mayo Darlé to reach Bafoussam, the capital of the West, to receive their salaries at the end of the month," said the sub-prefect. According to the first elements of investigation of the platoon of the gendarmerie, the tragedy would have been caused by the speeding, the overload and the technical condition of the vehicle.

According to the governor of the Western Region, Fonka Awa, all measures have been taken to elucidate the exact causes of this tragedy as well as the responsibilities, so that all the consequences are drawn. The administrative authority subsequently called on users "to be careful" in the run-up to the end-of-year holidays, traditionally marked by an intensification of traffic at the beginning of the dry season with fog.

According to figures from the Ministry of Transport, traffic accidents caused the death of 3,275 people in 2020 in Cameroon.
