The scene took place yesterday, December 8 in the capital of the North-West region.

Soldiers carried out the public execution of an individual in Ntarinkon in the city of Bamenda, yesterday, December 8 in the early evening. According to information relayed by Mimimefoinfo, the incident caused panic on the road. Users started running in all directions in order to save their lives.

"All I could hear while we were in traffic was a commander approaching the armored car and asked in French for the guy to be removed from the car, after which all I heard were gunshots," a witness to the scene told the site. The victim's body was reportedly abandoned on the roadway. Until now, no official note refers to what happened in the city of Bamenda.

Last June, the NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) in a statement denounced the abuses committed by the Cameroonian army in the Anglophone zone. "On June 8 and 9, 2021, members of the Cameroonian security forces killed two civilians, raped a 53-year-old woman, and destroyed and looted at least 33 buildings — shops and homes, including the home of a traditional chief — in the North-West region," HRW said in a statement, released Monday. specifying to have exchanged with several victims, relatives and witnesses in particular. The military "said my husband had a gun. We assured that we did not have a weapon. They said they were going to kill us, and then one of them raped me," the rape victim told HRW. The body of her husband, "shot in the mouth", was found three days later, on June 11, according to the NGO.
