In correspondence addressed to FIFA and CAF, they assure that the athletes will join their selections not before 3 January 2022.
European clubs are not letting go. After having wanted to postpone the African Cup of Nations (CAN) on Cameroonian soil, they have just rejected the release of African players as provided for in the FIFA regulations. In correspondence addressed to FIFA and CAF, the Forum of World Leagues (WLF) indicated that the players called to compete in the CAN will not be released before 3 January 2022.
A few days before the start of the competition, which will kick off at the Olembé stadium in Yaoundé on January 9, the new exit of European clubs once again harms the holding of the great mass of African football. In theory, athletes are supposed to join their respective teams on December 27.
