For the record, a serious fire broke out on May 31, 2019 at Sonara, Cameroon's only crude oil refining unit. This incident had a significant impact on the revenue collected by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) of the Ministry of Finance. According to the implementation report of the 2019 State budget, this fire, which totally damaged 4 of the company's 13 production units partially blew three, cost the Treasury 84.2 billion FCFA, as losses recorded on the collection of taxes.
