The cotton development company (Sodecoton) has forecasts to collect 400,000 tons of cotton this year. The main agro-industrial operator in the north has benefited in the past from government support consisting of the supply of two graders worth 350 million CFA francs and two loader excavators valued at 150 million CFA francs.
Culture supports nearly 2 million people in the Adamawa, North and Far North regions and accounts for 60% of agricultural income in the northern zone. Exports are estimated at 6% and 14.1% of the GDP of the industrial branch. However, Sodecoton is suffering the pangs of the coronavirus pandemic, with revenues down -5.7% to 148 billion CFA francs, in 2020, for an estimated net loss of 5.7 billion CFA francs.
