Revelation made by the Minister of Water and Energy (Minee), yesterday, December 15 in Yaoundé during the signing of a financing agreement for a project to export electrical energy to Chad.
The Lagdo dam in the northern region is affected by drought. "In 2021, we only received 1,600,000,000 m3 of water. Only two billion last year. Two years ago, we had 4 billion. And with four billion we are in a normal hydrological situation, "reveals Gaston Eloundou Essomba, Minister of Water and Energy (Minee), during the signing of an agreement to finance a project to export electrical energy to Chad.
According to Minee, the Ladgo dam produced 60 megawatts of electricity per day with the capacity of 4 billion cubic meters of water. However, the current daily production is 12 to 13 megawatts. To reduce the energy deficit in the northern regions, the Minister in charge of energy is relying on the installation of a new 10-megawatt thermal power plant in Guider and another 15 megawatt one will be installed in March as well as the commissioning of the Bini hydroelectric dam project in Warak, whose work is unfortunately slow to be delivered.
