During a press conference on Friday, December 3, 2021, the president of the MRC returned to the umpteenth postponement of the reception ceremony of the Main Stadium of the Olembé complex.
Maurice Kamto did not remain marble in the face of the indefinite postponement of the reception ceremony of the Olembé stadium yet scheduled for December 3, 2021. The national president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) did not hesitate to attack the government. "While we were told that we will see what we will see on the 3rd (December, Editor's note), we are told that the reception is postponed sine die. (…) And we are asked above all that we attend all this but especially that we are silent. Let us not say anything, let us accept that it is normal," said the leader of the MRC, during a meeting with the press on December 3, 2021.
A situation that pushes the politician not to remain silent. "My fellow citizens, we will not be silent. No, my fellow citizens, we will not be silent because Cameroon is our country for all of us," chants Maurice Kamto. "At the time, they said one year is enough. Today, why are we talking about CAN 2021? Is it in 2021 that the CAN will be held, isn't it 2022? Why we always say the CAN 2021. This is the CAN 2022.", he quipped before adding: "But the stadium (Olembé, Editor's note) he is not ready. We gave until November 30, we succeeded by I do not know what steps, until delegations that went to Cairo to get us to be given three more days until December 3 and we got until December 3."
In a statement made public by sports minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the official reception ceremony of the main stadium of the Olembé Complex under construction scheduled for December 3, 2021 has been postponed to a later date; to the great dismay of public opinion.
