Cameroon women's national team captain and CSK Moscow striker Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene has been shortlisted by her peers in the list of the 23 best players in the world. The Indomitable Lioness is the only African present in this list. The final XI will be unveiled on 17 January 2022 at The Best FIFA Football Awards.
FIFPRO has updated the announcement of the players who received the most votes, reducing the shortlist from 55 to 23. This was done to reflect the number of players typically involved in a "team" in international competition. The three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders and six forwards who received the most votes earned a place in the World 11 Women's 23 team.
