The cadres of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) appeared today at the military court of the political capital. They were subsequently charged in September 2020 as part of the peaceful protests.
The trial of Olivier Bibou Nissack, the spokesman of Maurice Kamto and the national treasurer of the party Pr. Alain Fogue has been postponed to December 24, 2021 for "forced appearance of detainees and summons to prosecutor of free defendants", announces lawyer Hyppolite Meli, representative of the collective Sylvain Souop.
"The Colonel presiding over the Military Court therefore orders the use of armed public force, that is to say brutality against civilian detainees, who challenge his jurisdiction, so that they are forcibly brought before him and that he judges them in his military barracks as if the failure to appear would be a failure of mission. The little military Christmas is coming for Professor Fogue and others," commented the lawyer registered at the Cameroon Bar.
In recent days, several MRC activists have been released in the cities of Douala, Yaoundé and Bafoussam. They had been detained following protesters repressed by police in September 2020.
