The text that has just been promulgated by the Head of State will reduce the tax burden on local producers.

Article Nine of the 20022 Finance Law abolishes the export tax for honey and pepper, previously subject to an exit duty at the rate of 5%. "By way of derogation (…) pepper and honey are exempt from the export exit duty, whether manufactured or not," we learn from the text.

These two products including white honey from Oku (North-West) and white pepper from Penja (Littoral) make the reputation of Cameroon abroad. Indeed, they are labeled by the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI). With this abolition of the export tax, one of the economic effects that could result is the dynamisation of the pepper and honey sectors, because producers will have less tax burden to pay.
