The Yaoundé military court ordered the release of journalist Emmanuel Mbong Mbog Matip for "lack of evidence" after 16 months of detention. This investigative journalist and editor of Climat Social, was investigating an alleged coup. The person targeted was the President of the Republic of Cameroon. He was also investigating the theft of large engines in Togo by Cameroonians involving the high personalities of the Republic close to the Head of State and some senior officers of the army.
While investigating these two cases, Mbombog Mbog Matip was abducted from his home on 17 August 2020 and then taken to the Directorate of Military Security (SEMIL) where he was sequestered with torture, then to the Secretariat of Defense (SED) where he spent three weeks before being brought to the central prison of Yaoundé – Kondengui on 7 September 2020 by Lieutenant Colonel, Investigating judge of the military court, Jacques Baudouin Misse Njone, where he was several times threatened with death.
Wrongly detained for "spreading false news" at the central prison of Yaoundé – Kondengui, in inhuman conditions, the director of publication of Climat Social was simply acquitted on December 13, 2021, at the military court of Yaoundé which declared itself incompetent for lack of evidence.
