A ship sank at the boundary between Cameroonian and Equatorial Guinean territorial waters on Friday, December 3, 2021. The death toll shows one person dead and about 20 others missing, announced the Equatorial Guinean state television (TGE) on Saturday, December 4, 2021. "Of the 45 passengers and crew on board the ship that sank on Friday, the French Navy rescued 20 people and brought back the lifeless body of a woman; the other people are currently missing," the TGE said.


The people in the boat were on their way to the town of Tiko, according to the Mimimefoinfo website. Rescue operations have been launched by Equatorial Guinea to try to find possible survivors. After information gathered by the Equatorial Guinean authorities, the sinking of the ship carrying six containers of goods was reportedly caused by a storm.
