A fundraising evening was organized yesterday Saturday, in view of the construction of a center of cardiac excellence.
The Laquintinie Hospital in Douala aims to build a cardiac exploration center, the first of its kind in Africa. The realization of this infrastructure requires the mobilization of 560 million CFA francs. To achieve this, a fundraising evening was organized yesterday, December 18. "We must no longer leave health in the hands of the state alone. Your contributions are a sign of commitment," said Manouada Malachie, Minister of Public Health who made a personal contribution of one million CFA francs.
According to Dr. Anastase Dzudie, a cardiologist in this health facility in Cameroon, 25% of stroke victims die within a month of the malaise. The construction of this cardiac exploration center will allow better patient care.
This hospital takes the name of Laquintinie in the 50s in tribute to the French military doctor Dr. Jean Auguste Laquintinie who stayed twice in Cameroon (1936-1938 then 1940). A few days ago, the health facility celebrated its 90th anniversary. With 183 general practitioners and specialists, the hospital is positioned as a reference hospital in the economic capital.
