The government of the Republic of Cameroon made an outing to explain what happened to Ekondo Titi. On November 24, a terrorist attack killed 5 people, including 4 students, in this city in the South-West region.

The Ministry of Defense directly accuses the separatist armed group "Ten Kobo". They would have dressed in military fatigues in order to sow confusion among the population:

"A dozen secessionist assailants, dressed in military uniform and equipped with automatic weapons, stormed the premises of Ekondo Titi's Government Bilangual High School, Ekondo Titi, also known as "Grammar School", and began firing indiscriminately in the direction of classrooms where students and teachers were located, before activating an improvised explosive device. The reaction of the 812th Gendarmerie Platoon in faction nearby unfortunately did not allow to get hold of the attackers who immediately fled into the bush."

An armed group with a troubling past

The statement also said that it was the armed group led by General "Ten Kobo" that was responsible for the massacre. They have been active in this region, and their feat of arms includes kidnappings and assassinations of state officials.

"Informed of the tragedy, the administrative authorities and the local Defence and Security Forces immediately went to the scene to inquire about the situation and take the necessary measures for the rapid care of the wounded, the most serious of whom were evacuated to the Limbe Regional Hospital, Operations continue on the ground to track down the attackers who, according to preliminary findings, belong to a terrorist group led by the so-called General Ten Kobo", also responsible for the abduction and incommunicado detention of some divisional delegates from Ndian on June 15, and the assassination of the divisional delegate at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development," the statement reads.
