The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li LIkeng, launched the warning signal in a statement on December 1, 2021.

A Cameroonian non-governmental organization with an American partner is illegally offering 5G service in the country. This is the denunciation made by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li LIkeng in a statementsigned on December 1, informs the site InvestirauCameroun. "It came back to us through social networks that a Cameroonian NGO named Likalo Li Sanaga, in partnership with an American NGO on behalf of Remember Africa, carried out on October 4, 2021 at its headquarters in Yaoundé, a demonstration of the provision of 5G mobile phone service in Cameroon, followed by the distribution of products and accessories necessary to access said services," explains the minister. At the same time, the telecoms boss invited "these organizations to put an end, without delay, to their illegal activities, otherwise they expose themselves to sanctions… ».

According to the Minister, these organizations do not hold any operating title to operate in Cameroon as an operator providing electronic communications services. Indeed, for the time being, the Cameroonian state has not yet issued a 5G license to operators. According to the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART) of Cameroon, the implementation of 5G will take place in 2025.
