In the country ruled by Paul Biya for 43 years, electoral transparency is under severe strain. Under Article 80 of the Electoral Code, ELECAM (Elections Cameroon) is legally obliged to publish the national electoral roll. However, despite repeated reminders from political parties and complaints from citizens, ELECAM stubbornly refuses to make this file public.
So why such opacity? Does this refusal, in total violation of the law, conceal a far-reaching electoral manipulation? Suspicions are growing as the 2025 presidential election approaches.
Fraudulent entries on the electoral roll
Hundreds of thousands of minors and deceased people would appear on the electoral roll. Yes, minors and the dead could « vote » in 2025. There is every reason to believe that this is an orchestrated plan to distort the results of the presidential election, with the alleged complicity of the Constitutional Council.
A threat to Cameroonian democracy
This scandal jeopardizes the fundamental right of Cameroonians to free and transparent elections. ELECAM, which is supposed to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process, seems instead to be playing a central role in methodical electoral fraud. The Cameroonian people can no longer be content to stand by and watch this injustice unfold.
