CAN 2021 relocated? The Confederation's communications director, Alex Siewe, said that neither his organization nor key Cameroonian officials had discussed such events.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has denied rumours about a probable relocation of the CAN 2021. It must be said that it was reported that from Cameroon, the competition would go to another country, such as Qatar. But CAF dissociates itself from such a rumor. "We have not received any other messages or information from our leaders. Nothing like changes in dates or countries. We have not discussed this in all of our recent meetings. We are there. We are working," Said Alex Siewe, CAF's Director of Communications on BBC radio. "We can't continue to spend time dealing with rumors."
Alex Siewe explained that an official CAF delegation has been released. In addition, SG Veron Mosengo-Omba will join the country in two days. Already, the trophy of the CAN 2021 arrived in Cameroon on Monday. But still, the governing body of African football has already taken possession of the other infrastructures that will host the matches of the 33rd edition of the CAN 2021. The conclusion to be drawn from all this is that in the end, the signs are clear that the CAN 2021 will not move.
And as for the Olembé stadium at the center of all the discussions, the Minister of Sports is formal. "The opening ceremony will go well in Olembe on January 9 and the finishing work of the complex with all its components will continue. " Narcisse Mouelle Kombi told Cameroon Tribune.
