I know some who have stung a stomach ulcer when learning the result of the elections to the Cameroonian Football Federation. I know some who are currently on anti-depressants, obviously on the verge of a heart attack. I know some who suddenly have suicide cravings. I know some who have put their mobile phones in out of service mode because they are distraught, disillusioned, unhinged, stung after the announcement of a (brilliant) victory that hurts so much that they have lost their Latin. Many of them are inconsolable, as they have long nurtured the desire to see Samuel Eto'o, be humiliated at the end of this election which broke all records in terms of audience.
Many Cameroonians have deliberately poisoned their hearts and minds with hatred and rejection. Who gave themselves the credo "everything but Eto'o", believing that by covering the former captain of the Indomitable Lions with filth and shame, they would succeed in changing his destiny. Mocked, hated, vomited, scolded and accused of all the avillating qualifiers for having dared to claim to lead a Fecafoot in agony, Samuel Eto'o was doomed to groans. Vilified by his own Cameroonian brothers, past masters in the art of murdering their legends.
They did not bother to leaf through the beautiful pages of his voluminous program which has as its groundswell, "to give back to Cameroonian football all its greatness". They did not consider it useful to give a chance to the quadruple Ballon d'Or, anxious to propose an uncompromising therapy that would save the soldier Fecafoot.
They did not want to define the contours of his fight for the good of the footballers because they were too busy finding valuable arguments that would certainly derail his long march to the "Palace of Tsinga". This insipid Eto'o bashing maintained by black hands and pseudo patriots animated by a feeling of gratuitous hatred, unfortunately had no equal but the surprise of the triumph of the "9". By accusing him of having chosen the wrong target during the electoral campaign. By making him the trial of having confused electorate. By making irregular tackles to him and promising him hell, they forgot that it could be written.
In truth, the victory of the former FC Barcelona striker is not only the result of a well-oiled strategy set in motion by his teams. It is not only the fruit of a campaign that has finally seduced and conquered the electorate and the people. It is also and above all the proof by "9" that God refused to let his creature suffer yet another oddity, an umpteenth humiliation. Omnipotent and omniscient and more than ever convinced of his innumerable efforts, his many sacrifices made, this faith and this passion to bring Cameroonian football out of the abyssal depths, the Most High refused that the prodigy son did not come out through the back door. Our Ivorian brothers say that "there is God in it". It's called: being touched by grace!
