Elements of law enforcement refreshed a block of four rooms at the public school of this commune.

The public school in Nwa, a commune in the Donga-Mantung department of the North-West region, has just benefited from a renovated block of four classrooms. The renovation project was carried out by elements of the5th Joint Military Region. These rooms were inaugurated last Saturday.

According to school officials, this little-attended school saw its enrolment increase at the end of 2016 with the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis. The children came from nearby villages to continue classes, Mbucksek Comfort, the school's principal, was quoted as saying by The Observer, a local media outlet.

According to a recent analysis by the UN humanitarian agency (UNOCHA), more than 700,000 children are affected by school closures due to violence in the north-west and south-west regions of the country. Multiple deadly school attacks, kidnappings and killings have created a climate of fear forcing teachers and students not to continue classes normally.
