What is known is that it is an area in which several separatist groups evolve. The two most famous would be the Military Forces of Ambazonia (AMF) and the group of the warlord 10 Kobo. While the army points directly at the latter, activist Mark Bareta close to the leader of the group has declined any responsibility for the attack. According to him, this would be an achievement of the Cameroonian military on his own civilians.
"As we mourn our murdered children in Ekondo Titi, the Ambazonia FM 10 Kobo fighter operating in Ndian sent an audio message in which he accuses the Cameroonian army of killing the schoolchildren. It's good to hear 10 Kobo free himself or his group from such a great evil in Ekondo Titi," he said.
Bareta hopes to have the collaboration of other rebel groups in order to find the culprits.
"We understand that there are other groups working in this area. As we have already said, enough condemnations. We will continue to investigate until we are sure that no Amba group is involved. I challenge the Military Forces of Ambazonia (AMF), which I know have a foot in this area, to investigate this issue thoroughly and tell us the truth whether any of our forces are involved in this nonsense or not. The AMF must now come forward as it did before. We have a duty to our people," he said.
The government, through its army, directly accuses the group 10 Kobo.
This other crude act moved not only the people, but also the whole world. Condemnations poured in from all sides.
Cameroon's north-west region is in the grip of an armed insurgency. It will be almost 10 years. The attackers demanded their detachment from the French-speaking part. They want to form an independent state, Ambazonia.
