We focus a lot on the work of the Olembe Stadium which is struggling to be completed. But throughout the national territory, CAF has taken possession of the other infrastructures that will host the matches of the next CAN 2022.

In order to justify the delays, the Minister of Sport may also have misled observers. He focused attention on the notion of technical recipes. Excellent things are happening on the pitch as CAF has taken possession of the stadiums that will be used during the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. Clearly, this means that it is this body that will manage these infrastructures until the end of the competition.

Special derogation for this CAN 2022

It should be noted that Cameroon will have benefited from the favors and understanding of CAF. According to its regulations, the transfer of infrastructure takes place three months before the event. It is only at the end of the competition that they will be returned to the host country.

For the time being, the match and practice stadiums selected for the CAN 2022 in the six cities of Bafoussam, Douala, Garoua, Limbe-Buea and Yaoundé are managed by CAF. The authority and its staff will ensure the functionality of the different compartments and especially the rest of the lawn. It is for this reason that the return play-off match of Coton Sport de Garoua was played far from its stronghold. The Douala Reunification Stadium is not included in the list of infrastructures selected for the CAN 2022.

It is by no means a whim to recover the stadiums of the competition. There are many things that need to be done to keep things running smoothly. Among these, mobility around the stadiums, security grids to be arranged, facilitation of access, deployment of media, etc …

The Stade d'Olembé is not yet on this list. It benefits from a special derogation.
