This is highlighted in a report by the 2020 National Anti-Corruption Commission (Conac).
Corruption is doing well in the central region. In the report of the National Anti-Corruption Commission of 2020, out of 3,392 denunciations noted by this institution during the previous year, 1,339 come from the region- headquarters of national institutions.
The document made public by Conac states that in this administrative unit, corruption takes several forms, whether it is rigged public contracts, fictitious jobs, abuse of power in the public service, corruption of public officials, abuse of corporate assets, illegal taking of interest, payment of bribes. The road transport sectors with 17% of denunciations, followed by land cases (14.60%), law enforcement (13.60%), finance (12.60%), and justice (11.30%) are the most plagued by corruption.
To track the phenomenon in the political capital and other cities of the region, "the operational activities of Conac in 2020 focused on the receipt and exploitation of reports of suspicions, exchanges with taxable persons and the transmission of financial information to the competent authorities," reports the newspaper Integration.
